Beaches in Lanzarote

Playa Blanca has three main beaches - Playa Dorada, Playa Flamingo & the town beach. All three of these have golden sand and slope gently into the sea. Playa Dorada & Playa Flamingo have sunbeds and parasols available to hire as well as water sport activities.

Further along the coast towards the lighthouse there is a small beach between the Natura Palace Hotel and the H10 Rubicon Hotel. For keen divers this is where Dive College Lanzarote are based.

Papagayo Beach. About 2km east of Playa Blanca is the famous Papagayo Beach. This was the beach used in the film One Million Years B.C. starring Raquel Welch. Unfortunately to get to the beach you need to drive along a dirt road for 4km. Alternatively boat trips can be taken from the harbour in Playa Blanca.

Famara For those who love surfing the beach at Famara on the west coast is world famous. Its strong currents however make it unsuitable for bathing.

Costa Teguise. This is also a favourite beach for wind surfers with a number of international competitions being held here.

Puerto del Carmen. The beach at PDC is called Playa Grande. This is a long golden sandy beach popular with tourists staying in Lanzarote's biggest resort.
